Maureen Culleton has been dancing since she was 4 years old. In the 1950's she was taught to dance by Micheál Ó Duinn, the local dance master, who visited the primary school in Ballyfin Co. Laois each week to teach the children his steps. Maureen remembers these dances clearly and teaches this style of traditional dance to the present day. Her love and knowledge of dance and her teaching skills have taken her to many parts of the world including Brittany, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Florida & Japan where she taught these dances to wide acclaim.
