Karen Tansey has been dancing for the past 8 years under the guidance of Edwina Guckian and is now a teacher at Sean Nós ar an tSionann Dance Club. Hailing form Ballymote, Co. Sligo, Karen grew up in an area with a very strong influence of traditional music and dance. She holds numerous All Ireland titles to her name in sean nós and set dancing and can be regularly seen performing on Ireland's tv channels TG4 and RTE. She has performed for our previous Irish President Mary McAleese and current President Michael D. Higgins and also featured in Ken Loach's film Jimmy's Hall. Karen is now travelling the world teaching and performing while broadening her dance education and skills at the World Academy of Irish Dance in the University of Limerick.
